Every person lives their life by creating an endless number of events, situations, and memories.
The time passes by and often we tend to spend more of the available time reminiscing about the past.
What happened, what didn’t happen, what could have happened, what we think was supposed to happen, what shouldn’t have happened at all by any means or measure.
I find that I often spend too much time thinking and pondering about the things that happened – that in so doing cannot be changed at all.
A fond memory of an intimate encounter with a beautiful woman…
How I should have handled myself in a situation that irritated me when it happened…
How I should have better planned for the future – which is now the present…
What I would have done differently if I were to relive any number of scenarios that have all become memories…
And, what can be most distressing when analyzed – trying to recreate in my current life events that happened decades ago…
It is best to leave the memories where they are – in the past.
Sure a BRIEF reflection once in a while to see where you’ve been and some of the things that were experienced – but it’s far better to focus and spend what little available time you have left living life now and creating the future – making more of those memories.
I’ve heard the saying “living in the past” – time is simply too limited and none of us have enough of it to waste much not living now.
