In years past I have focused on increasing my income in “reasonable” increments.
Normally, and most often easily achievable, 10%, 20%, 25%,…dare I “stretch” and say 50%. Ooh, and Ah, I know. And I’ve done this very thing year over year for a number of years. Yeah sometimes the increase isn’t what I sought, or I fell a little short, but all in all there has been progression. Which is good.
The realization I now see becoming more prominent is:
Is that all? Am I settling for less?
Or stated a few different ways: Am I trying to reach my potential (or am I just keeping up)? How about 250% or a 500% increase? Why not? And of course, how?
Different thinking that brings on different strategies. Will definitely raise other, more focused questions like is it possible? – in my current role/position? What changes will need to be made to achieve this?
And what new problems will have to be addressed in order to reach a higher goal?
