We’re now 31 days into the second half of 2017, 31 days into the third quarter.
As always, an assessment is in order. Where are we compared to 31 days ago? One, two, three four months ago?
Are we on track? What changes need to be made? What new information can we use to further us along the path toward our short and long term goals?
In any endeavor there are and will be setbacks. There will be changes, things that one could not foresee, things that you can not control, new and different information, ideas, techniques, etc.
We could and should expect increase, positive movement, positive expectancy, and the ultimate attainment of what we have set as our definite purpose, both long and short term. But when the setbacks, hardships, and inevitable undesirable changes come, as they will, what do you do?
Do you let it completely derail you? Do you let it knock you down and keep you down? Do you accept it as fate that you can do nothing about but be a victim?
No.
If you have set something as a goal, as the ultimate desire, then you get back up and put one foot in front of the other and you carry on.
You keep on, knowing that through persistence and discipline, you will reach your target.
Discipline has been defined as doing what you need to do whether you feel like it or not. (Or doing what you said/agreed to do [to yourself or someone else] long after the feeling when you said it has faded).
Persistence is defined as firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.
November 2016 through May 2017 has been great. New levels of accomplishment, new experiences, resolution in many different areas of my life, and progress towards many different goals I set.
Though the past couple of months have been less productive than ideal in certain areas, I know that through discipline and persistence (and a positive attitude) I will make progress. Production will increase, as it always does, when I keep putting one foot in front of the other, as long as I keep my long term focus on that which I desire, as long as I stay the course and back it up with the necessary actions to reach my destinations.
What about you?
