What Makes the Difference?

I posted this in a private group today and thought it worthy enough to post long term here.

“In my mind’s eye, as I watch the whirlwind of thoughts and ideas, I wonder which one can I grab a hold of.

Which one can I shape into something inspiring and moving?

Which one will have the greatest impact on my reader? (Which is you, if you’re reading this)

And I grab one, I roll it around in the “rostisiery of my mind”…

And it is this. The one thing I hope you can internalize is…

Love.
Love life. Love those you are close to.
Love you spouse. Love your children.
Love your friends (and your pets if have any)
Love the stranger you meet in your travels today.
Love the experience of living, for all of the struggles, all the strife, all the times when you want to quit…
And love the victories, large and small that each day brings.

In the end, all we can control is how we interact, how we show up, how we present ourselves.

I encourage you to be the change you want to see in the world. Live all the time you live.”

After a short comment, I continued..

“I’m a big self improvement advocate. Walk around, look at most people you interact with on a daily basis. Do they look happy? Do they look fulfilled? Do they look like they are living their best life?

Ok, so the answer is “no”.

Do you want to be like them?

Again, no.

What’s the alternative?

How do you…how does one…how do I combat the barrage of bad news that waits for us each day in every nook and cranny of our lives?

Herein lies the answer.

The alternative. I want more. I want to be better, to be my best. For many reasons.

So, years ago I decided to make “self improvement” the background noise in my life.

It makes a difference.

And every now and then, when I’m out and about and I look around, I get encouragement…

To be the difference I want to see in the world. I can’t impact everyone, only those I come in contact with. Though the biggest motivator is to be an example for my children.”
