So the month of May is slipping away. Today being may 20. Friday.
It’s been a busy month so far. Interesting and busy year so far.
My daughter has finished track finals. Her team made it all the way to finals for her school. She got a gold medal, being undefeated in the shot put, which we’re very proud of. Her team for the 4 x 400 relay, girls, were undefeated all season long. She also.. her team got a gold medal for that as well. And overall, her school did very well in comparison to the others. They got a second place trophy… just a few points shy of tying for first place or even taking first place, which we’re immensely proud of.
In addition, she’s graduating eighth grade this year, which is middle school. As it is right now. Next year, she goes for high school, new changes there, and she’s going to graduate with straight A’s.
We’re always been very proud of my daughter. She always excels in everything that she does artistically, academically, sports-wise… the last two years that she did girls basketball, her team was undefeated and won finals. You know, so really great.
My son, he’ll be graduating sixth grade. He’ll graduate with a three B’s all the rest A’s, which we’re extremely proud of, as well.
And just wanted to say if there’s a lesson in all this, it’s to be consistent.
Consistently do what’s good and right, and what works towards your goals. From a young age, we decided to give our children love and encourage them and support them, in any way that we can, that helps them grow. Not to spoil them, though they are quite spoiled in some regards. But to encourage them and motivate them. We’re seeing the results of that and have been for years.
And in addition, it’s just consistent, daily action… weekly action… towards your goals. This blog being an example. I started in 2015 and for the most part, have posted at least once a month, since then… since 2015. With a brief, brief year and a half or so intermission, which I wrote about when I came back.
Obviously health-wise it’s the same thing. Consistently good eating habits, routinely exercising and taking vitamins. Staying away from processed foods, fast foods and things like that. It does make a difference, overall and long term. And I have for a long time consistently held, since high school really, that by and large I’m in better shape and better physical condition than those in my peer group (those the same age and demographic as myself). On average. I’m not an elite athlete by any measure. But I definitely am not a couch potato.
And that holds true for your financial future as well. So it holds true in all areas. Discipline with your children with your family life with your health. Your career wise always strive and take consistent action towards being the best that you can be and continually getting better.
Financially that means saving for the future. I didn’t start as early as I should have though, once I really noticed this, both me and my wife, we put ourselves on a on a path to consistently save for retirement. So we are not hurting (hopefully) when that time comes.
And just wanted to get this out real quick because again in the month of May is slipping away. We’ve had some busy weekends… track finals… graduations coming up and these other things. And before the month slips away I wanted to leave my mark for this month and pass along a little bit of insight, if you will.
Take care.
